The history of aerial transport facilities was created by Nippon
Cable, which makes people's lives more fun.

1953〜 Established as Nippon Cable Co., Ltd.

1953
  • ・Established as Nippon Cable Co., Ltd. in Nihombashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
  • ・Began construction of ropeways for dam construction at sites including Ikawa, Shizuoka.
  • ・Established a factory in Ukita-cho, Edogawa-ku, Tokyo.
1954
  • ・Moved Head Office to Nishi-Hatchobori, Chou-ku, Tokyo.
  • ・Developed SP cable, a ropeway designed to enable easy relocation.
  • ・Installed a bi-cable detachable chairlift in Iwappara, Niigata.

1956
  • Installed a 6-passenger bi-cable gondola in Zao, Yamagata.
  • 世界最初の3線自動循環式ロープウェイを山形県蔵王に建設。
1959
  • ・Moved the Head Office to Ukita factory site to consolidate company functions.
  • ・Constructed a 13-passenger bi-cable gondola in Gozaisho, Mie.

Enters the car parking facility business.

  • Constructed a bi-cable gondola having a total length of 4,035 meters in Hakone, Kanagawa.

1969
  • Constructed the Panorama Tower, a 100-meter spiral observation tower in Yahiko, Niigata.
  • 世界最初の3線自動循環式ロープウェイを山形県蔵王に建設。

1970〜 
Enters partnerships with overseas aerial ropeway manufacturers.

  • Constructed a fixed-grip double chairlift in Shigakogen, Nagano.
1973
  • Constructed Japan's first 4-passenger mono-cable gondola at Mt. Yokotsu, Hokkaido.

  • ・Developed and installed a spring-box platter lift in Yamaguchi, Iwate.
  • ・Acquired Nippon Elevator Co., Ltd.

  • ・Established an alliance with Konrad Doppelmayr, the leading Austrian manufacturer.

  • Moved the main factory to Narashino, Chiba, to increase manufacturing capacity and enhance quality.

  • Constructed the Japan's first detachable triple chairlift in Shigakogen, Nagano.
1984
  • ・Constructed the world's first 5.0m/s rope speed 6-passenger mono-cable gondola in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
  • ・Constructed ths Japan's first detachable quad chairlift in Akakura, Niigata.
1985
  • Constructed the world's first 8-passenger mono-cable gondola for Tsukuba Expo '85.
  • 世界初の8人乗りゴンドラを“科学万博―つくば'85”に建設、営業参加。
1986
  • Constructed a 6-passenger mono-cable gondola for access to the Great Wall of China.
  • 中国、万里長城に6人乗りゴンドラを建設。
1987
  • Constructed the Japan's first 5.0m/s rope speed 8-passenger mono-cable gondola in Appi Kogen, Iwate.
1988
  • Installed 11 detachable quad chairlifts with bubble covers in Niseko, Appi Kogen, Zao and other sites.

The Head Office moves to Kanda Nishiki-cho, Chiyoda-ku in Tokyo.

  • Completed first European vertical circulation car parking system (Auto Tower) in Vienna, Austria.

  • Constructed the world's largest 166-passenger jig-back ropeway in Yuzawa Kogen, Niigata, and Kita-Shigakogen Ryuo, Nagano.

  • Developed and installed a detachable quad chairlift for indoor artificial ski areas in Funabashi, Chiba.
1994
  • ・Constructed the Japan's first 15-passenger pulsating gondola for the World Resort Exposition in Wakayama.
  • ・Constructed the Japan's first fixed-grip quad chairlift in Hakuba, Goryu, Nagano.
1995
  • Developed and installed the world's first passive roll stabilizer for gondolas at Kiroro, Hokkaido.
1997
  • ・Moved the Head Office to Kanda Nishiki-cho, Chiyoda-ku in Tokyo to streamline corporate functions.
  • ・Constructed the Japan's first detachable 6-seater chairlift in Geihoku Kokusai, Hiroshima.

  • Constructed a 32-passenger double loop mono-cable jig-back gondola at Mt. Hashikura, Tokushima.

  • ・Constructed a 112-passenger funicular railway in Sarakurayama, Kitakyushu.
  • ・Constructed an 8-passenger mono-cable gondola for the Japan Exposition in Fukushima.
  • ・Constructed the Japan's first 12-passenger pulsating gondola with an air conditioner for the Japan Exposition in Yamaguchi.
  • ・Constructed the world's longest gondola having a total length of 5,482m in Yuzawa, Niigata.

  • ・Constructed the Japan's first double loop mono-cable gondola in Hakone, Kanagawa.

  • Constructed two 8-passenger mono-cable gondolas for the Japan International Exposition 2005 in Aichi.
2008
  • Constructed a 12.0m/s line speed 121-passenger jig-back ropeway in Biwako Valley, Shiga.

2010〜 The world's most advanced model constructed.

  • Established joint venture Hangzhou Nippon Cable Feeler Corp. in Zhejiang, China, to conduct sales and import/export of car parking facilities and related equipment.

  • Developed and constructed a double loop mono-cable small funicular in Sapporo, Hokkaido

  • Constructed a material ropeway for landslide mitigation in Jinnosuke Valley in Hakusan National Park, Ishikawa
2016
  • Constructed a combination lift in Niseko, Hokkaido
2018
  • Constructed the world's most advanced combination lift in Ishiuchi Maruyama, Niigata

  • Nippon Cable's transportation device for boats/canoes is completed for use during the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics canoe events.

  • The YOKOHAMA AIR CABIN permanent urban ropeway is constructed in Yokohama, Kanagawa.
  • 日本初の常設都市型ロープウェイ「YOKOHAMA AIR CABIN」を神奈川県横浜市に建設。
